Prima Princess Stamps

Hi there, this is my first post in a long while so i’ve a lot to fill you in on over the next few weeks :-). I am starting with a short one (ease myself in gently lol!)! So, this is some of what we created in my studio at our Tuesday class yesterday morning.

Once i did the demo and let the ladies loose with some watercolour paints, pencils and stamped images it was so quiet it was like when i switch on the telly/ you tube for the kids! We got a great laugh when i said as much. 🙂

We used some new Prima stamps from the Princess range, which are fantastically priced @ €9.99 each and so easy to use. We matted the coloured image on to co-ordinating cardstock and on one card used strips of washi tape to add some interest to an A5 plain white card.

Prima has a great selection of water colour pan sets ( see photo ), which is what I used. They are brilliant as they have a lovely selection of colours in each one, are easy to use and a great size set for bringing with you :-).

I have them in the shop, so if you are interested in playing with them send me an email, pm me on facebook or text me on +353879481196.

Thanks for dropping by,

Kate x

Christmas Party pictures and a New Year begins…

Christmas is an extra busy time in our house.  As well as the normal Christmas shenanigans we have three birthdays, one of them was extra special as my mum reached a significant milestone (not telling lol!).  We also celebrate our wedding anniversary (our 15th :-)) and both my grandmother and my father in law passed away several years ago during this time, so we remember them during the holidays too.

Because of this, we get to see all of our families over the season…..a lot to be thankful for 🙂

As you know we also had our christmas party before Christmas in Athlone (picture evidence above :-)),  a big thank you to all you crazy ladies for braving the floods, Santa is still recovering lol!

Looking forward now, January 2016 is here….this is an exciting time for us crafters.  A new year, new projects, new inspiration, new events and of course the CHA Winter show. I have to admit I am very excited about what I have seen so far, I will be posting pictures, links and taking pre-orders next week, so stay tuned 🙂

I am also really excited to finally launch our new KIT CLUB… Through the year I will bring out a new kit, full of my favourite brands.  Our first Kit is a Diary / Planner kit and contains craft goodies from Bo Bunny, Kaisercraft, Technique Tuesday  along with a hand picked embellishment bag that i know you will just love.  There will be plenty left to make some additional projects too 🙂  I will be posting You Tube videos showing what i did with mine but to whet your appetite, here is a quick video showing the kit and what i started doing with it :-).

To order the kit click on this link Kit Club January 2016, hope you like and remember to watch out for more news next week. Kate xx

Yip! It’s Me!! Hello again…….

For those who haven’t been following our shenanigans on Facebook and Mailchimp, here is a brief summary while i have been away from the blogging world!!

Family Stuff:  My 7 year old is now off Gluten.  After 10 months of cyclical illness’s, 4 trips to A&E, 2 hospital stays, massive weight loss, leukemia scare etc. it turns out that it was Gluten that was the problem all along.  He is now off it 5 months and is flying.  Can’t believe one of the most worrying periods in my life so far has been summarised in two sentences.

The last I will say on it, is that for all parents out there who have sick children, sending you lots of HUGS xx (and a lighted candle xx)

Life Stuff:  We have moved beside our farm yard, into a lovely cottage that once belonged to a wonderful man (my husband’s uncle Frank).  Settling in has it’s moments lol!  (much smaller cottage….6′ 2″, giant of a husband (gentle giant I might add xx))

Work Stuff:  I now have my bricks and mortar shop 🙂 as well as a craft studio :-).  I will do another post on that at a later date as i want to share with you some of the lovely things we have been making for the upcoming Craft Shows.

Yes, a new adventure for us.  We are taking our shop to the NEC, stand G49, (I have to admit i am a little nervous, nerves are good though, right??)

http://www.stitchandhobby.co.uk/birmingham/autumn/

Straight after, we are in Dublin for the annual Knitting and Stitching show, Stand F48

This is another fabulously easy project Kit that will be available at the show, you don’t even need a sewing machine, it can de sewn by hand 🙂

We are Sooo..excited here to announce that we have booked the fab Dina Wakley to come to our new studio to teach a series of workshops 27-29 March 2015

Dina Wakley is a mixed-media artist and teacher. She loves everything about art: creating it, thinking about it, looking at it, and teaching it.  As a Ranger Signature Designer, Dina designs a line of mixed-media art supplies that includes acrylic paints, mediums, brushes, rubber stamps, stencils, and more. She also has recently published two Art Journal Books.

Dina is passionate about teaching art and in her spare time she is a docent at the Phoenix Art Museum, where she gives tours to school groups and gets kids excited about art.

She has travelled the world teaching her “Art Journal Play” series and was thrilled to be asked to share her passion and skills with us here in Ireland 🙂

So…. here are the details.  Dina is going to teach 6 different 3 hour workshops over three days 27-29 March 2015.  Here, in our NEW converted farmhouse SHOP & STUDIO in Tourmakeady, Co. Mayo.
Google location map

We live and work on a small farm on the lake shore in the shadow of the Partry mountains, a very, very beautiful part of the world…perfect place for Creating works of ART 🙂
There is plenty of accomodation locally, both self catering and B&B’s (links to follow), or you can travel the 35 mins into Westport and stay in one of the many lovely hotels.

Now down to the workshops…(and don’t worry about trying to choose, as I am definite she will be back :-), Happy Days!   A very, very excited Kate xx)

In Dina’s own words……..

My “Art Journal Play” classes are all about exploring and playing with art journaling techniques. The goal is to learn techniques, experiment, play, and make finished journal pages. We’ll be working in journals, but the techniques apply to all mixed-media projects (canvases, book-making, etc.).

Graphic 45 Scrapbook Page :-)

Canon Camera July 2014 928

It’s been ages since I have blogged…I honestly don’t know where the time goes, the weeks just roll into one another.  For those who hadn’t heard, I broke my ankle playing cops and robbers with my 6 year old son and his his young friends :-(, (my own fault, running in Fit Flops…not a good idea)

Walked on it for a week before I realised that I might have a broken bone, So I have been in plaster for the last few weeks, can’t drive, can’t walk, eating all around me and going stir crazy!!!

However, the up side to this is that I am getting to spend a lot of time tweaking our new website (would love your feedback, so check it out here ) and crafting 🙂 🙂

It made me realise that I am a little ‘rusty’ lol!  But I have managed a lovely scrapbook page using Graphic 45 Botanical Tea collection.  I loved this the minute it came out and I knew what I wanted to do with it straight away 🙂

My Aunt Mary turned 80 in June and we had a family birthday party for her last Saturday.  For as long as I remember she loved working with her hands..her speciality was making jams and chutneys (I can still taste them) from her own produce, rhubarb, gooseberries, tomatoes etc.

We are supposed to look alike, so she gave me a picture that she loved, it was a formal one of her when she turned 18. So I created a scrapbook layout using a copy of the photo she gave me, papers, banners and the flower die cut pack from the Botanical Tea collection, a Prima resin Frame and some canvas.

I took a short video of the finished layout (which I framed in a 12″ x 12″ Prima Wooden Frame) and have some photos also. Leave a comment and let me know if you like it, Crafty Hugs, Kate xx
