Guest Blogger..Lyric Mini Album by Lou FuFu

I got the Prima Lyric Collection off Kate the last time I saw her and knew immediately it was screaming to be made into an album. I went out on a limb because first it was an A4 pad which I wasn’t used to and it was very floral! Having a boy I tend to stay away from floral patterns but I needed to release the inner girly floral for this album!

Using a design for a mini album from Angelwings on Youtube, which seemed easy enough and wasn’t 20 parts long like my last album I flew through the basic design. I have to say I really did enjoy making this because I premade the album first and then the next day cut the paper to size and inked it, that’s where I usually start to loose patience but which the gorgeous paper it made it easy to match up.
Here’s a video of the album before I stuck the photos in. Prima Lyric Mini Album   Excuse the shakey hands but couldn’t find a stand low enough to catch the detail of the pages and the music was added because I had a two year old under my chair giggling his heart out with the dog so I had to cover it up! When adding the photo’s I actually found that by adding a hinge on the photos I could add double the amount so they folded out on flaps over each other.
All this is for a craft basket for my sisters birthday who shamed me in giving me the most awesome hand crafted items in a basket for my birthday, I’ve posted all the items I made for her on my blog but the final dash is on to see what else I can shove into it before her birthday comes up!
Thanks for looking and I hope it inspires you to make something today,
Lou x

Sneak Peaks!!

Hi everyone,

Furst of all I want to widh everyone a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!  May 2013 bring you all good health and lots of happiness (as well as plenty of fun crafting time!!) 🙂

December was a difficult month for me, it started off sad for myself and Mike and finished sad for all the family as My Granny passed away on Christmas Day.  She would have been 93 on the 23rd of this month.  She was an exceptional woman with great determination and a sense of fun (She did the Can-Can with my two sisters in The Moulin Rouge in paris when she was 84).  She was by no means perfect, as anyone who was at the end of her jibes can attest too.  But she was the last of her generation and we will miss her terribly, love you Granny xx

Back to crafting… as you probably know the CHA Winter 2013 is on in two weeks and there are a number of product sneak peaks released, (links below)  It’s an exciting time with lots of gorgeous new products ( i am loving the new wood embellies and the washi tape stamps by Prima as well as the fab, fab new configurations box by Tim Holtz.  He has some great new idea-ology products coming onstream so if you are a fan, make sure  you check out his link below!

A Little Christmas Project……

Hi Everyone,
apologies for not blogging in a couple of weeks, lots of things happening in the family didn’t allow time for blogging 😦
I want to wish everyone a wonderful day today and lots of festive fun; Peace, Joy and lots of crafting time in 2013!
If you are like me, you will find you have some time on your hands over the next two weeks (kids happily playing with their new toys / gadgets), leftovers in vogue and everyone is in holiday mode :-).  Anne and I are planning on having some creative fun and of course i will blog about it.  To get us started the lovely Anne has made a gorgeous Christmas Tag (tutorial below) and I have also attached some other pics to get the creative juices flowing.  As you know tags are a great way to express your creativity and the finished pieces look great on a card, in a frame, hanging from a light fitting (or Christmas tree) or as a gift tag!
Merry Christmas and keep an eye out for our next project,
Kate and Anne x
Christmas Tag
Christmas Tag Tutorial 2012
Tim Holtz didn’t do his 12 Tags of Christmas this year but he has all his previous years Christmas tags archived on his blog. They are a great source of inspiration and the following Christmas Tag Tutorial uses some of my favourite of Tim’s techniques.
-Start by die cutting one of TH’s Holiday Ornament from chipboard or mountboard. Paint this with a thick layer of Brushed Pewter Crackle paint and leave to dry. (It took almost 5 hours for the paint to dry and ‘crackle’ so do this well in advance.)
-Cut a tag (18cms by 9 cms) from a sheet of cream cardstock. Spray with water and colour with China Blue and Stormy Sky Distress Stains. Dry with a heat gun and stick a few layers of Washi Tape along the bottom edge.
-Stamp the crackle stamp from the Tim Holtz ‘Joyful Song’ stamp set all over the tag with the Snowcap Paint Dauber. (Clean your stamp immediately.) Repeat stamp the music stamp (from the same set) over sections of the tag using Coffee Archival Ink.
-Using the Tim Holtz Vintage Lace die, cut a lace strip from gold mirror card. Glue to the bottom of the tag using Glossy Accents. Emboss the whole tag with a flourish embossing folder. Blend Tea Dye Distress Ink around the edge of the tag and lightly rub a Stazon Timber Brown Ink Pad over the tag to highlight the embossed areas.(You can use Walnut Distress Ink for this step but the parts of the tag covered in washi tape don’t take the ink.)
-When your holiday ornament is dry and crackled, colour it with alcohol inks using Red Pepper and Watermelon with a hint of Raspberry. Glue it to your tag. The Brushed Pewter paint and alcohol ink gives a fantastic effect, like shattered stained glass.
-Colour a strip of cream cardstock with the China Blue Distress Stain and cut out the word ‘rejoice’ using Tim Holtzs ‘Once Upon A Time’ die. Glue to the ornament. Using Barn Door Distress Stain and the Tim Holtzs ‘Alphabetical’ die, cut the words ‘in the season‘. Glue to the tag and add red stickles to some letters.
-Use a white pen to create a snow effect on your tag. When dry, go over snow with Crystal stickles. Add red gems, a metal embellishment, some ribbon and fibres and your tag is finished.

Christmas Jamboree Kit Video’s!

Hi everyone, apologies for not blogging the last two weeks, still trying to re-organise after the show (catching a flu didn’t help, ugh!)

Anyway, Anne and I recently made two videos to talk through two of the kits available at this year’s Christmas jamboree (a crafting party for crafter’s yippee!).  Make sure you check out the videos HERE,

The other two kits are a Kaisercraft Advent Calender (you got to check out this you tube video by Leane , Aka Luvlee Scrappin. It’s one made up using the Graphic 45 Nutcracker Sweet and it’s even set to it! )  the final kit is with Eve from Crafty Queens, and it’s for a gorgeous G45 mini album, brill!

Of course you don’t have to do a kit you can just come along on the day and play with your stash and join in the fun and crafty frolics.

You can find more details about the Christmas jamboree on our Christmas Jamboree page or you can call me on 087 9481196.

PRE-BOOKING IS ADVISABLE!!           Event tickets and kits can be booked here or if you would prefer to pay by cheque you can email me (Kate 🙂 ) at

Looking forward to seeing you on the 2nd..
