Yip! It’s Me!! Hello again…….

For those who haven’t been following our shenanigans on Facebook and Mailchimp, here is a brief summary while i have been away from the blogging world!!

Family Stuff:  My 7 year old is now off Gluten.  After 10 months of cyclical illness’s, 4 trips to A&E, 2 hospital stays, massive weight loss, leukemia scare etc. it turns out that it was Gluten that was the problem all along.  He is now off it 5 months and is flying.  Can’t believe one of the most worrying periods in my life so far has been summarised in two sentences.

The last I will say on it, is that for all parents out there who have sick children, sending you lots of HUGS xx (and a lighted candle xx)

Life Stuff:  We have moved beside our farm yard, into a lovely cottage that once belonged to a wonderful man (my husband’s uncle Frank).  Settling in has it’s moments lol!  (much smaller cottage….6′ 2″, giant of a husband (gentle giant I might add xx))

Work Stuff:  I now have my bricks and mortar shop 🙂 as well as a craft studio :-).  I will do another post on that at a later date as i want to share with you some of the lovely things we have been making for the upcoming Craft Shows.

Yes, a new adventure for us.  We are taking our shop to the NEC, stand G49, (I have to admit i am a little nervous, nerves are good though, right??)

Straight after, we are in Dublin for the annual Knitting and Stitching show, Stand F48

Pop over and say hello if you are at either event.  We will be giving away some tickets so make sure to keep an eye out .

Ok, down to crafting makes, there is a video link at the top of this post that shows you one of them… a cute little Fairy door I made for my gorgeous niece.  We will have kits for this at the show in conjunction with another Irish Company, Crafty Cutting.

This is another fabulously easy project Kit that will be available at the show, you don’t even need a sewing machine, it can de sewn by hand 🙂

I also made a fun bag for Halloween, “Every respectable Witch needs an Evening Bag, lol!”

Witch's evening bag 2105

Ok, that’s all for now, have a fab weekend and thanks for visiting!

Distress Markers Playtime!!

As you know our delivery of Distress Markers finally arrived in our store and I finally got a chance to spend sometime playing with them…….rewind…….!!

As you know our delivery of Distress Markers finally arrived in our store and I THOUGHT I  would finally get a chance to spend some time playing with them, however my four year old had other ideas 😦

As you know I have set up an online craftshop and i also teach craft workshops, what you may not know is that i do it on a part time basis.  My hubbie works fulltime and i am a sahm that has a passion for her hobbie 🙂

Anyway, my son decided to get sick the day the distress markers arrived so playtime had to be put on the back burner for a couple of days.  But the good news is that I finally got a chance to play with them last night and boy am I hooked!

I have been a little apprehensive about them, as I have heard mixed reviews!  But I can put hand on heart and say; I LOVE THEM!!  They are perfect for me.  I am a quick crafter, enjoying creating in the little spare time I have.  Distress Markers (and stamps) allow you to create beautiful results each and every time.  That’s the beauty of them, they are so easy to blend, the colours are fabulous, they react to water but still keep their integrity (hope all the spellings are right lol!).

There are a lot of different ways to use your distress markers (which you will see if you are coming to our demo in Athlone this Saturday – Athlone Springs Hotel).

I have taken a few pics (below) of my play results to give you an idea of what can be achieved in a short space of time.

Hope you like.  Happy crafting and thanks for stopping by.  I’m off to play some more (once my 4 year old is tucked up in bed)

12 Tags of 2012

Well,  it feels like ages since I blogged…yep, it has been AGES!!  Have to admit that I missed it!  I really, really enjoy blogging.

Not sure what that says about me, but isn’t that what life should be about…doing the things you enjoy!!          Open to a lot of interpretation that statement.. lol!!

I have been caught up with developing my website and choosing product for the last couple of weeks so I haven’t had much time for creativity but when I got a couple of hours I knew exactly what I wanted to do!

TIM’S 2012 tags

I really enjoyed taking part in the Christmas Tags but didn’t have time to do all 12. So when I saw that we had a month to do each tag, Wohoo!, I knew that I would join the multitude of crafters in creating a monthly tag following Tim’s themes! Check it out here TIM’S 2012 tags

So here is my February Tag….(very appropriate theme for 29thFeb!)

I distressed my tag and some scrap white card with Fired Brick and Chipped Sapphire.  Using Tim’s Urban Chic Stamp set, I stamped my tag with the swirl stamp using black soot and the phrase stamp using Chipped Sapphire.  Using the same stamps I stamped some scrap pink tissue paper, cutting strips and attached to the back of my tag in pleats using glossy accents. I then stamped the heart stamp onto the distressed white card using jet black Archival ink, setting it with my heat gun.  I tore around the stamped image and UTEE’d it using Clear UTEE. I applied three layers as I wanted to get a sense of depth.  When the last layer was still hot I added some FRAN-tage glass glitter and Mica Fragments, fixing them to the utee with the low setting of my heat gun (or from underneath if you don’t have a low setting).   I added two pieces of left over torn card to top left and bottom right, creating more layers. Finally I added some more FRAN-tage glass glitter to the tie and frill on top.  I love the sense of depth that the UTEE and the Fran-tage elements added to the heart (photo doesn’t do it justice).  And it goes without saying that I just love, love, love the tissue paper effect!

A big THANK YOU to TIM, for sharing his creative expertise and INSPIRING us yet again,

thank you Tim. xx Kate

Ooooo! I got two deliveries today to unpack and ……….I wasn’t there!  My baby sister with hubbie and 1 gorgeous niece moved to London last November. So in the sales i bought a fabulously cheap flight from Ireland West Airport Knock to Gatwick and am currently sitting on her couch in London working on my labtop. The only draw back is that I missed the unpacking! My hubbie and three year old did it instead..lucky divils!)

So what arrived for the shop….mmmm where do I start! Lol.

* Tim’s NEW Cargo Case (selling for €65) and Trinket Case (€40)

*  *Stampers Anonymous / Tim Holtz and Dyan Reaveley Stamp Sets

* Distress Stains – various colours

* Ranger Adirondack Paint Daubers – various colours

* Distress ink _ Re inkers

Hubbie is still unpacking so will keep you posted!  Still on target for having our online shop up and running next month…fingers crossed!  In the mean time if you need anything just email or phone me.

I’m clocking out for the day now to sit on the floor to Happily play with my abolutely gorgeous and cute two year old niece, how lucky am I!!

(don’t be too envious, back to working on the labtop, once she’s gone to bed) xx

Day 9 – Tim’s 12 tags of christmas

Hello Taggers, Crafters and Bloggers!!

I was lying in bed last night thinking that blogging is as addictive as re-creating Tim’s tags.  It gives you the freedom to express yourself in a defined way.

I also realised what I want from Santa this Christmas and it isn’t two front teeth! lol!.  I still have mine, thank G. so I am going to ask fro a new bl…. lap top!  Mine keeps crashing on me right at the critical moment. I think it’s jealous of all the time i’m spending in my craft room lately lol!

Anyway on to Day 9.  I actually finished this last night, but was too jaded to blog (after spending a lovely day in Galway yesterday with my family, shopping for a frock for my birthday party!!), so I left it till today.

Tim’s tag is here  if you havn’t seen it yet and it’s fabulous!  I love embossing so this was right up my street.  Here is my tag

I followed Tim’s direction and used a Hero Arts background stamp (Birds and trees from the Sizzix / Hero Arts set) but I embossed with white embossing powder.  I then inked all over with Fired Brick Distress ink and heat embossed with clear ultra thick embossing enamel.  I took my walnut stain ink pad and blending tool and inked the tag again.  I then added a lamp post black peel off, an alpha and die cut sentiment, a christmas tree brad and some trim  Finally I added some gems to ‘Light up’ my lamp Post.

I wanted to keep it simple, focusing on the sentiment!  I titled this tag ‘Lighting The Way With Hope and Love’, which I have wrote on the back.

Thanks for visiting,
